Description
Kraft Foods' primary partner in the fight against hunger in the US is Feeding America, a national food bank network. One of the many programs supported by Kraft Foods is the Mobile Pantry Program. With more people hungry and greater expenses for food banks, pantries and families, it is increasingly difficult to get food to those who most need it. Many of the food distribution agencies are in counties that are more than 120 miles from the nearest food bank. This program brings perishable and non-perishable food items including fruits, vegetables, dairy products, baked goods, pasta and peanut butter to those most in need. The vehicle makes stops at local food pantries, soup kitchens, churches, schools and parking lots where volunteers set up tables and distribute the food. Over the course of three years, the goal for the entire fleet of 25 mobile pantry trucks will be to deliver 50 million meals.
