Description
Kraft Foods and Save the Children are working to improve the nutritional well-being of impoverished children in Indonesia and the Philippines.
In Indonesia, the focus is on providing interactive feeding sessions and cooking demonstrations; helping families learn the skills to make healthy, affordable food choices; and delivering programming through the cultural based "posyandu" system, where respected community members coordinate monthly village-level meeting to distribute food and teach.
In the Philippines, the focus is on providing nutritious meals and vitamin supplements in a school-based setting targeting preschoolers and children in grades 1-3; developing and disseminating messages on children's health, nutrition, sanitation and hygiene; and improving health workers' capacity to recognize and refer children suffering from severe malnutrition for treatment.
