Description
A maternity unit was built in Senegal with the assistance of AXA Hearts in Action volunteers from several countries: Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Senegal and Switzerland. The Senegal chapter of AXA Hearts in Action participated in the construction of two maternity units in rural areas, where prenatal mortality is high due to a lack of healthcare infrastructure. Women are sometimes forced to put their lives at risk in order to travel several tens of kilometers on a cart to reach the nearest health center.
